Since 2005, selected European museums have exceptionally opened for a night, free of charge, as part of European Museum Night. The event takes place on the closest Saturday to 18 May, simultaneously in countries that have signed the Council of Europe’s cultural convention.
For one night only, hundreds of museums will be welcoming visitors free of charge until 1am. This will be a unique opportunity for people, the younger generation in particular, to discover the rich diversity of museum collections in cities all over Europe.
The myriad exhibitions and collections you will be invited to explore will include ancient, modern and contemporary art, archaeology, decorative arts, and photography. You can also find museums of science and technology, anthropology, civil and military history, and rural and industrial heritage opening their doors during this event.
