Discover the history of the Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts through a special exhibition showcasing 10 years of acquisitions.
The new exhibition at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux
This exhibition is an opportunity to look back on 10 years of acquisitions, through the presentation of a selection of particularly significant works that are representative of the diversity of the media represented.
Enriching its collections is one of the museum's essential missions. At the Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts, this acquisition policy particularly highlights Bordeaux art from the 18th to the 20th century, as well as 19th-century French art, one of the strengths of the collections.
Each year, the museum welcomes new works—paintings, sculptures, and drawings—acquired through purchase or received as donations and bequests, thanks in particular to the support of the Société des Amis du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux. All these acquisitions are carefully selected and approved by a scientific committee composed of experts, in accordance with the rules of French museums.
