Russian pianist Dmitry Masleev brings his own interpretation and virtuoso playing to one of the pinnacles of the piano repertoire: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Marking a true renaissance following difficult years for the composer, the concerto resonates with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, composed in 1937, at a time when the Soviet authorities were casting the shadow of censorship over a musician in search of new horizons. An evening conducted by a regular at the opera house: the French conductor Lucie Leguay.
