This is a special encounter with Jean-Claude Berrouet, an iconic figure in the world of wine who has made a resounding name as a Bordeaux craftsman, in particular thanks to his beautiful interpretations of Petrus.
Originally from Bordeaux, Jean-Claude Berrouet gained an oenology diploma from the University of Bordeaux in 1962 and a degree in ampelology in 1963.
This famous oenologist from Château Pétrus, Château Magdelaine, Château Trotanoy and Château Lagrave ran Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix from 1964 to 2008.
Since 2008 he has been an international consultant oenologist, working in China, Argentina, Israel, California and France (Tursan, Corbières, Minervois).
He is also involved in the University of Bordeaux’s ‘University Diploma in Wine-Tasting Expertise’ (DUAD).
Last March he received the Winemakers’ Winemaker award from the Institute of Masters of Wine: this distinction, awarded annually by the institution, is granted in recognition of exceptional achievement in the field of winemaking.
He is a winemaker in the Montagne-Saint-Emilion, Lalande-de-Pomerol and Irouléguy appellations, keeping him in touch with practical and economic realities.
