Rugby World Cup 2023 in Bordeaux
The city of Bordeaux is used to hosting major sporting competitions. In 2023, it is rugby and its famous World Cup that will be in the spotlight! From 8 to 30 September, several international teams will compete at the Matmut Atlantique stadium for this 10th edition, which already promises to be spectacular.

A responsible event open to all
On the occasion of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Bordeaux will endeavour to use sport to transmit and share strong values such as: citizenship, culture, surpassing oneself, solidarity, commitment and respect. The aim is to make the event accessible to as many people as possible, without discrimination, by removing as many barriers to participation as possible. Thus, Bordeaux Metropole will commit itself to the so-called remote public and will affirm its position in the fight against all forms of discrimination.
The Rugby Village (closed)
The Rugby Village has closed due to the weather.
Throughout the World Cup, a Rugby Village will be set up in Bordeaux. Conceived as a place of mixing, meeting, social link and festivity, this rugby village will be open to all supporters and inhabitants of the Metropolis. More information on the location, timetable and activities will be communicated shortly.
What can you find in the Rugby Village?
- A 52m² screen to watch match broadcasts
- Local catering in a "guinguette" atmosphere

During the group stages: open every weekend from 2pm to midnight and for French team matches from 6pm to midnight. During the final stages, all quarter-finals, semi-finals and final: open 2 hours before the first match of the day and closed at midnight.
Events throughout the metropolis
As part of the Rugby World Cup 2023, the Bordeaux metropolis is organizing numerous events to promote the values inherent to the rugby spirit. From family workshops to concerts and conferences, a wide range of activities are scheduled from August to October, culminating in the Aquitaine Urban Rugby Challenge on October 27 & 28.
Fiji team camp in Lormont
The Fiji rugby delegation has chosen to install their base camp in Bordeaux Metropole for the 2023 World Cup. They have chosen the right bank of Bordeaux because Fiji will play two group matches at the Matmut Stadium on September 10th against Wales and on September 30th against Georgia.
This is very good news for the fans who should be able to attend some of the national team's training sessions and a few meetings with the public. The Fiji team is expected to arrive sometime in August. They will then stay at the Lormont Rugby Club until their final match against the last World Cup qualifier on 8 October in Toulouse.
The All Blacks in Gironde
As part of the Rugby World Cup, the well-known New Zealand All Blacks team will be coming to Gironde and stopping off in the Bordeaux metropolis. From 18 to 22 September, after their match against Namibia in Toulouse and before their match against Italy in Lyon, the players will be training in the South-West capital.
