Olympic Games - The Olympic flame in Bordeaux!

Bordeaux will host the Olympic flame on 23 May 2024.

The Organising Committee for the Olympic Games has confirmed that Saint-Emilion, Libourne, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Métropole are the four local authorities that will host the Olympic torch relay in Gironde on Thursday 23 May 2024.
The four partners have been working together for several months to welcome the Olympic flame to their areas. The relay will pass through Saint-Emilion, Libourne, Le Bouscat, Mérignac, Pessac, Bordeaux, Lormont and Cenon.
The precise route, which has yet to be finalised, will take in the Hippodrome du Bouscat, the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux and the Pôle Nautique International des Dagueys in Libourne.
There will be plenty of entertainment along the way. The final highlight will take place on the Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux, with a celebration site set up to welcome the arrival of the last torchbearer and the guard of honour, as well as the lighting of the cauldron, a solemn, unique and spectacular moment. A grand concert will bring the celebrations to a close in the evening.
This route will be run by local torchbearers. Their profile? Ordinary people who have achieved extraordinary things in sport, culture or education.
After being lit in Greece at the ancient site of Olympia, the Olympic flame will reach Marseille by sea, aboard the Belem. The Torch Relay will take place over more than 70 days across the country and has three objectives:

• Involve as many people as possible in this global event
• Raise the profile of our regions
• Raise the profile of sport in our society.

Bordeaux Metropole is the host city and will be hosting seven matches in the men's and women's football tournament at the Matmut Atlantique stadium, including a quarter-final.
