Behind the pretty decorated window, it's indeed a fromagerie which awaits you: soft lights, designer windows and hushed musical ambience. "The playlist is Radio Meuh, a radio station from Haute-Savoie... land of cheeses!" says Vincent, employee of the shop, opened nine years ago by Élodie Deruelle. Passionate, she works directly with hand-picked producers, according to two essential criteria: the quality of the product and therespect for animal husbandry.
A local specialty ? L'Escadut, a soft organic farmhouse cheese with a supple texture akin to a Saint-Nectaire.

It's been six years since Vanessa opened her store to showcase cheese, a product dear to Vanessa who, "as a true Frenchwoman, I consider it just as important in a meal as a roast beef or a good dessert ! ". In her local shop, she doesn't hesitate to offer advice to customers and sometimes ideas for cheese-wine pairings.

Madame Fromage, the right bank nugget
In real life Madame (and Monsieur) Fromage are called Sylvette and Louis Salbreux. The young couple have chosen to turn their shared passion for cheese, into a profession. " We let people taste a piece of cheese, they come back to give us their opinion, we listen to their tastes to advise them " adds the owner of the premises, who is keen to offer affordable prices.
A local specialty ? Mozarrella from the Burdigala dairy in the Capucins district. Eat it plain with olive oil!

Fromagerie Beillevaire, two addresses in Bordeaux
In 1980, Pascal Beillevaire sold cream at markets near Machecoul (44). Little by little, he expanded his range, notably with his first cheese, " machecoulais ", made from milk collected from surrounding farms. Building on his success, Pascal Beillevaire now sells his cheese in Bordeaux, Paris and even London !
A local specialty ? Ossau-Iraty, the most famous of sheep's tommes, has a very fine, fruity flavor.
