Which houses are emblematic of the chocolate-making tradition?

Maison Cadio-Badie

The Maison Cadiot-Badie, founded in 1826, has evolved from a confectionery to a chocolate specialization since 1900. With workshops located in Pessac, this historic house offers an authentic chocolate experience rich in tradition.

Maison Saunion

The Maison Saunion, founded in 1863, is a veritable institution. Recognized as a "living heritage company", it regularly ranks among France's finest chocolatiers. Located Cours Clémenceau, the Maison Saunion invites visitors to discover its workshops located just above the store.

Darricau House

Chocolaterie Dardenne

Founded in 1897 by Ludovic Dardenne, a pharmacist chocolatier, the Chocolaterie Dardenne in Bagnères-de-Luchon has specialized in the manufacture of traditional, authentic chocolates. Certified organic and gluten-free, this chocolate factory offers a gourmet and healthy experience in Bordeaux.

Discover chocolate sticks straight from the Médoc

In 1969, in Margaux, the chocolate factory of the same name began making chocolate sticks intended to garnish pains au chocolat (or chocolatine as they say in the region!). But one day, an incident occurred on the line, resulting in a series of irregular, twisted and too thin sticks. Reminiscent of the vine shoots used to prune vines, this is how these little sticks came to be known as the Médoc's chocolate specialty. Would you like to try a few? Visit here to order or directly at the boutique de l'Office de tourisme de Bordeaux!
