Selection of wine bars in Bordeaux

A place to meet up with friends, an address for a romantic tête-à-tête or an epicurean's paradise, it's up to you to choose your wine bar. Whether chic or no-frills, the wine flows freely and is accompanied by sweet nibbles. Here's our selection. Welcome to Bacchus' banquet.

Cornichon, the wine cellar that toasts

At 1 Quai Richelieu, Cornichon pops open the good bottles and serves up simple snacks in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.. Here, we toast nature, organic or biodynamic, around generous sharing plates and sincere cuisine that gives pride of place to raw produce. More than a wine bar, it's a cellar to live in, designed for epicureans who like to raise their elbow without lowering their standards.

The CIVB Wine Bar, downtown

Soberly christened Le Bar à Vin, there's nothing ordinary about this place. First of all, you'll have your nose in the air as you enter the ground floor of the Maison du Vin de Bordeaux. The wine bar, housed in an 18th-century building opposite the Grand Théâtre, has been completely renovated by architect Françoise Bousquet. Contemporary furnishings sit alongside a vine-themed tapestry by Marc Saint-Saëns, creating an elegant, intimate atmosphere. The frequently renewed wine list is completely dedicated to Bordeaux wine and its many appellations.

Complanterra, an introduction to biodynamics

Complanterra: a name that refers to complantation (the art of blending grape varieties in a terroir) and mother earth sets the La! Here, we've resolutely set our sights on biodynamic, organic and natural wine. Romain, Sacha and Clémentine promote biodiversity, and for them polyculture and agroforestry will hold no secrets. The winery, located in the Saint-Paul district, also organizes tasting workshops in its pretty vaulted cellar, to discover biodynamic and natural wines. All tastings are accompanied, how could it be otherwise, by planks to share, sourced from agriculture that respects the environment and animal welfare.

L'Ampélo, a wine and food bar

The rather telling name for anyone who's done Greek: ampélo is formed on the Greek ampelos: vine! Ampelography is the joint discipline of botany and oenology that deals with grape varieties. The latest addition to the Dock du Vin network of wine shops, l'Ampelo, located between the Quinconces and the Allées de Tourny, offers an extensive selection of 600 wines from Gironde and beyond. While L'Ampélo sees itself and presents itself above all as a wine shop, it is of course possible to consume your own bottle for a modest corkage fee, or to pick and choose from the vast selection of wines by the glass! The wood-colored setting is vast and perfectly located.
