Aperitifs in the vineyards: best "guinguettes" and terraces

Aperitif on a terrace with a glass of wine in Bordeaux is all very well. An apéro in the middle of a vineyard, in a guinguette or waterfront atmosphere, with a wine from the estate, is even better! With the arrival of summer, it's time to reveal our favorite guinguettes and jolies terrasses in the Bordeaux vineyards.

Guinguette Lauduc à Tresses

Imagined by Emma, the fourth generation of the Grandeau family, and her childhood friend Alexandre, this new guinguette has set up shop in the Château Lauduc vineyard in Tresses, at the foot of the contemporary winery of Vignobles Grandeau. Their ambition? To bring life to the land where they grew up and create a place to share wine. Simple and convivial, the formula for summer evenings at Lauduc keeps its promise: tasty regional dishes, estate wines, and-why not-a game of pétanque. Friends, neighbors, and visitors alike can enjoy views over the Bordeaux hillsides’ vineyards, all just 20 minutes from the city.

The guinguette du Grand Verdus, in the Entre-deux-mers region

Family-owned since 1810, and housed in a Renaissance château, Le Grand Verdus sits atop a hill with an 80-metre drop below. When summer arrives, its lawn comes alive with laughter and the clinking of glasses, thanks to a charming country guinguette. Here, you can sample local produce from the Entre-deux-Mers, chat with the owners and locals, and sometimes even sway to the music. Summer at Le Grand Verdus!

Cloître des Cordeliers in Saint-Émilion

It’s hard to miss this iconic cloister when visiting the village of Saint-Émilion. With its beautiful 14th-century blonde stone architecture, its galleries, and its underground cellars reaching a depth of 20 meters, plus 2,000 m² of outdoor space, it’s a wonderful place to stroll-and to linger. In summer, this former convent comes alive, bathed in light. In the evenings, its walls resonate with music from concerts (with food trucks and jazz nights on Fridays) and laid-back DJ sets (on Saturdays). During the day, you can picnic while tasting excellent sparkling wines, crafted using the traditional method for Crémant de Bordeaux des Cordeliers. Santé!
