Tour de France 2026 in Bordeaux: the return of a legendary stage on July 10
The images of the triumphant arrival of the Tour de France 2023 on the Place des Quinconces are still fresh in everyone's memory. Three years later, the magic is about to happen again: Bordeaux will host a stage finish for the Tour de France 2026.
The announcement was made on October 23 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris by Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour. And it might as well be said that the public in Gironde can already tick the date ofFriday, July 10, 2026 off their calendars.
The route of the 7th stage of the Tour de France
From Hagetmau to Bordeaux: 175 km of emotions
The peloton will start from Hagetmau, in the south-west, for a stage of around 175 kilometers. The riders will cross the Landes forest, skirting the winding roads of the South-West before reaching the Bordeaux metropolis via the right bank of the Garonne. The passage over the brand-new Simone-Veil bridge will offer an exceptional panorama of the city before a finish judged right in the city center, on the Quinconces plaza.
A postcard setting for the Grande Boucle
The Grand Départ of this 113rd edition will take place in Barcelona on July 4, 2026, before the peloton crosses the Pyrenees to the plains of the Landes and Bordeaux, then up to the Dordogne, Corrèze and Massif Central. The world's cameras will once again capture the quays of the left bank, the Miroir d'eau, the UNESCO-listed city center and the effervescence of the Bordeaux public. This urban finale promises a massive sprint, in the tradition of the 2023 stage won by Jasper Philipsen.

A unique atmosphere on Bordeaux's quays
As for the 2023 edition, Bordeaux is preparing a small festival to welcome the Tour caravan. The quays will be transformed into a huge entertainment area. More information on the program in Bordeaux will arrive in the coming months. The municipality and the Metropole are also betting on an organization to match the event, between reinforced security and fluid mobility.
Information for public transport
The Metropole will deploy a specific plan for public transport. The challenge is twofold. We need to get the many Tour de France spectators on site, while guaranteeing everyday users continuity of public transport service on the first day of the school vacations.
