Château Sigalas Rabaud

Vigneron Indépendant, Vignobles et découvertes

The smallest of 1855 First Growth is still a family business Henri de Sigalas who come from an old parliamentarian family bought the Château Rabaud in 1863. His only son – Pierre Gaston de Sigalas – is more interesting about horses than about the vines though and, in 1903 gets mainly rid of the estate.

Still, Pierre Gaston kept the “bijou de Sigalas” – the “jewel of Sigalas” –, a consistent land slope and gave the rest in renting. Four decades later, his granddaughter Marie Antoinette de Sigalas spouse of Marquis de Lambert des Granges takes the property back. Together, the newly married couple modernised the brand and Sigalas is back among the bests. Passionate about art, they bought height Bordeaux fine arts’ paintings that you can still admire on the walls of the Château’s wine cellar. Today, their granddaughter – Laure de Lambert Compeyrot – is queen of the property. Under her wings, Sigalas Rabaud is certified high environmental value.
