Bordeaux Foodies - Insta accounts to follow
To discover Bordeaux's culinary nuggets, there's nothing like asking the locals. And when you don't know any? There are the instagram accounts of Foodies in Bordeaux beating the pavement, armed with their appetite for discovery. Here are a few epicureans to follow to unearth the best addresses.
Solène from le Canard bordelais
In just two years of existence, this account, run by a Charentaise with a love for Bordeaux, already boasts over 600 places tested. Artistic director and digital project manager for the Meiar restaurant group (Mélodie, Les Drôles, Berthus and many others), this inveterate fan of flans loves to unearth good addresses. Italian, Japanese, streetfood, French, ice-cream, Solène loves all types of cuisine and tests each address with gourmandise. Her polysemous name is both a tribute to the region's flagship product and a reference to the newspaper in its popular form. From coffee to dinner to snacks, her account highlights addresses of all kinds through dedicated videos, top stories (Le Top des flans, for example) and competitions.

Anne from Papilles et Pupilles
A pioneer in Bordeaux (when the term blogger was still in use), Anne Lataillade began sharing recipes on her blog that were unusual for the time. And for good reason: in 2005, forced to withdraw her children from the canteen, one gluten intolerant and the other allergic to eggs, Anne began sharing her recipes. 20 years later, she has released a travel guide, 4 cookbooks and collaborates with chefs. The latest is Papilles et Pupilles cuisine le sud-ouest, released in 2023. Today, her blog and Instagram account are teeming with easy recipes that answer the question "what's for dinner tonight?" as well as good addresses. Her favorite dish, cherry clafoutis. One of her favorite Bordeaux addresses: Zéphirine.

Fiona from Mange Ris aime
Hard to miss when you come across her in person, this 1.80 m foodie took advantage of the free time left by confinement to indulge her passion for cooking and created an account to share her recipes. Five years later, this Burgundian expatriate in Bordeaux is working with brands she particularly likes. She dedicates most of her time to sharing her recipes, her good addresses, some food and wine pairings and gourmet mood posts. The name is obviously a tribute to the book Eat, Pray, Love (Mange, prie, aime in French) that Fiona was reading when the idea for the account came to her. Her guilty pleasure: cheese in all its forms, especially Epoisse. One of her favorite addresses: Elio's.

Christian de Bien-aimé
Some people still call him Maitika, after the chatbot he developed back in the day with his partner. Now solo (but often accompanied by his son Mini-Choco), the credo of the only man in our selection remains the same: to give the best ideas for outings so that people make the most of their free time. With a more lifestyle & fashion angle than the others, the recently renamed account highlights the places he tests through videos, in which it's not uncommon to see his famous and theatrical "wrist-milling", fork in hand. Lunch, dinner or cocktail party, with friends or with his son, calm or festive, this content creator specializing in video doesn't have a preference. Christian likes to be surprised by what's new.

Anne-Sophie of Top Bordeaux Brunch
Brunchs are a dime a dozen. But when it comes to finding THE brunch, in a specific neighborhood, that accepts no reservations and is, if possible, kid-friendly, then there's a void in our eyes that Anne-Sophie Gaigeard makes a point of filling. A freelance journalist specializing in going out in Bordeaux and a recidivist bruncheuse since 2012, this big eater was tired of struggling to find her addresses. So she decided to list them by category. The whole thing is enhanced by her articles, her expertise on the subject and contests. Each brunch has a simple, no-nonsense (and always friendly) summary with "pluses and minuses". We love: the photos that illustrate her trademark phrase "I often eat professionally, but not always very cleanly!"
