5 not-to-be-missed Christmas markets in Bordeaux
Of course, there’s the must-visit Christmas market, with its chalets, rides, and festive entertainment on Place des Quinconces. But just a short walk from the city center, many other markets are worth exploring — featuring artistic and locally made creations, ethical and original gifts, and above all, unique venues with a vibrant, artsy atmosphere! Tempted yet? Here’s our pick of five Bordeaux Christmas markets you shouldn’t miss this year to find the perfect presents to place under the tree!
Xmas Market in Darwin
At Darwin, Christmas is a big deal. We love it so much that every year there’s not just one, but two weekends of the Xmas Market. On the program for these six days of shopping: stalls featuring clothing, jewelry, accessories, artworks, books, furniture, wellness services, and organic food. In total, more than 5,000 m² of sustainable boutiques run by regional artisans and creators.
Come (re)discover a different kind of Christmas market — alternative, responsible, and true to the spirit of the former Niel barracks, now a vibrant multicultural space full of color. Foodies can indulge in hot chocolate from Origines Darwin chocolaterie, organic pastries from Babel Bread — the barracks’ 100% organic bakery — plus homemade crêpes and of course, the traditional mulled wine. And the cherry on top of the hot chocolate? Fun activities for kids. It’s Christmas come early on Bordeaux’s Right Bank!
