Piscine municipale Galin

After several years of major works, the people of Bordeaux have been able to enjoy their swimming pool and its new facilities again since 2023.

Labelled as a remarkable piece of 20th-century contemporary architecture, the Galin swimming pool now offers all the comforts of a modern, understated building. The complete refurbishment of its facilities means it now offers a completely redesigned reception area with spacious spaces and colourful, functional changing rooms, and is accessible to all thanks to a lift.

The project also includes a number of new features that will improve the comfort of use for residents.
-the creation of a green outdoor beach area and water games for children
-the creation of a 50 m² paddling pool
-the creation of a 60 m² fitness room

Other changes include:
-the replacement of changing rooms
-the refurbishment of the pool tiling in shades of white
-the renovation of the façades with fine woodwork
-the treatment of all exterior concrete
-the refurbishment of the roof and work on the acoustics

A swimming pool adapted to environmental constraints

Significant changes have been made in terms of the environment. The facility is already connected to the district heating network (RCU), and water filtration will be carried out using perlite filters (volcanic rock powder), which will ensure optimal water quality and consumption.

Finally, an innovative system will treat the water used to replenish the pools by recovering heat to preheat domestic hot water (DHW) and supply toilet flushes. It will be complemented by a connected, autonomous centralised technical management system that facilitates control and improves overall consumption.
