Bike ride through the urban vineyards - 9 kilometre route

During the course of this 9-kilometre bike ride, starting from Blanquefort train station, you can visit two vineyards: Château Dillon and Château Saint-Ahon. Both properties are open for visiting and have a boutique where you can buy a bottle to fill up your basket.

Go down Rue de la Gare, turn right along the cycle path that leads to the roundabout, then turn left along the cycle path down Rue Jean Duvert. At the roundabout continue straight.

Bike passage on the left

Cycle up the drive until the chateau and continue down the plane tree-lined driveway.

Cycle past the bank and turn left onto Rue de Linas
Blanquefort

Next, take the first right onto Rue Michel de Montaigne and continue straight onto Rue du Queyron, then turn left onto Rue des Marnières in 500 metres.

Turn right onto Rue Maryse Bastié, then Rue Alcide Eyquem

After 600 metres, turn right down Rue de Poujeau, then turn right again onto Rue de Peybois. Continue straight onto Rue Edmond Blanc. Once you arrive at Avenue du Général, turn right, then turn left to take the cycle path down Rue de Saint-Ahon.

Château Dillon is a starting point for the famous Médoc wine route! This estate is close to Bordeaux and is attached to the Lycée Viticole de Blanquefort. Dillon is a certified AREA and HVE 3 estate, attesting to the vineyard’s environmentally-friendly practices. You can take a tour of the estate (booking required) and visit their boutique, where they sell wines produced at the property and gourmet products from the agricultural schools of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Alice de Courcel, from the 3rd generation to have worked on the estate, welcomes you to this beautiful 14th-century building which was destroyed in 1789 and re-built in 1875. She proposes guided tours of the property, a fun family-oriented trail called ‘The Gardens of Mirabel’, a picnic area, gites and also reception rooms for hire. The little boutique looking out onto the road that passes in front sells the property’s full range of wines and deli products.
