“Selected Works” Exhibition
musée / bordeaux / madd
22 April - 31 August
Check out the exhibition “Selected Pieces” at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design through August 31, 2026.
A New Space for the Graphic Arts
This new gallery, located at the beginning of the exhibition route, is dedicated to the graphic arts: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, engraving, and posters. Since these works are highly sensitive to light and humidity, they will be displayed on a rotating basis. They come from the museum’s collections, as well as on loan from institutions and private collectors.
A Fragile and Precious Collection to Discover Through Rotation
The Graphic Arts Gallery will open with the exhibition Selected Works – A Look at Jacques Sargos’s Drawing Collection. A renowned collector and founder of the L’Horizon chimérique gallery in Bordeaux, Jacques Sargos donated part of his personal collection to the museum: 137 antique and modern drawings, as well as several documents.
Linked to the decorative arts, architecture, and ornamentation, this collection spans four centuries of creativity. It brings together rare works, as well as more modest pieces, all of which are invaluable for a deeper understanding of the history of drawing. Upon the museum’s reopening, some forty drawings will be displayed in this space, with the exhibition layout updated over time.
