1 April - 30 November
Discover the Bordeaux Museum's new exhibition “Orang-Hutan, man of the forest” until November 30, 2025.
An exceptional natural exhibition
From June 5 to November 30, 2025, the Muséum de Bordeaux - Sciences et Nature will present Orang-Hutan, l'homme de la forêt, a visual installation in the Carré Art et Sciences. This original presentation invites the public to cross paths with Besar, a 17-year-old orang-utan naturalized in 2024, a silent witness to a world on the brink of extinction.
Meet Besar's eyes
The uncluttered set design, with no explanatory text, invites personal reflection. At the center of the room, Besar's gaze will challenge visitors, confronting them with the programmed disappearance of his species. Around him, eight large photographs illustrate the ravages caused by human activity on the habitat of these great primates.
With Orang-Hutan, the man of the forest, the Muséum de Bordeaux continues its mission to raise awareness of environmental issues. In addition to showcasing an exceptional specimen, this presentation will question our responsibility in the disappearance of species and the place we really give to living beings in all their diversity.
