A trendy pop dance show

A neon pink flamingo and dancers in sneakers: the Opéra is transformed into a pop venue for an evening of spontaneity and pure dancing pleasure. Three exhilarating ensemble pieces punctuate the program. Two new repertoire entries open and close the ball. Alexander Ekman's Joy draws on improvisation to explore the jubilation of movement. The dancers leave their pointe shoes behind, and men and women are liberated, dancing barefoot or in pumps. Shoes are also a vector of liberation in Hurry Up, We're Dreaming by American Justin Peck, who propels his sneaker-clad dancers into a dreamlike fresco flirting with jazz and tap, set to the electronic music of the group M83. Finally, the world premiere of L'Amour sorcier, by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich, revisits the 1915 ballet-pantomime whose incantatory energy turns dance into a hypnotic ritual of love.
