A dance performance at the Opéra National de Bordeaux

• The Opéra National de Bordeaux invites three major figures on the contemporary choreographic scene: Swedish choreographer Pontus Lidberg, German choreographer Marco Goecke and British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. An evening of aesthetic minimalism and choreographic virtuosity. The three ballets explore a register that intimately links neo-classical technique and contemporary abstraction. The bewitching compositions of Ezio Bosso and Antonio Vivaldi in Within The Golden Hour are matched by the pure tones of David Lang in The Shimmering Asphalt, while Woke Up Blind draws its dramatic intensity from Jeff Buckley's inhabited voice. Linked by the theme of awakening, whether to nature, the senses or feelings of love, the choreographers suspend time, inviting the spectator on a journey in which his or her gaze, alert, becomes part of the action.
