Château Tayac

This place has quite a story to tell. It’s not by chance that the Gallo-Romans chose Tayac to plant one of the first vineyards in the Gironde. A valiant knight left his mark on Château Tayac: the “Black Prince”. In 1356, he annexed Bourg and turned the manor houses into fortified castles, including Tayac. At the
end of the Hundred Years’ War, the castle was razed to the ground. The Black Prince’s watch tower is all that remains from this time, and still keeps an eye on the vineyard. The current, pure Renaissance style, château was built in 1827. After 2 decades of neglect, it was bought in 1959 by Pierre Saturny.
