Featuring numerous objects and documents, the exhibition brings to life one of the writer's most daring bets: the voyage on his yacht, the Snark, across the South Pacific Islands, from San Francisco to Sydney, between 1907 and 1909.
The exhibition revolves around the archipelagos traversed by the writer: Hawaii, the Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. A mythical odyssey to discover: photographs from the personal collection of Jack London, audiovisual facilities composed from historical and ethnographic films, collections of the Museum of Aquitaine and major museums, accompany the island-to-island visitor and meetings in discoveries.
This exhibition was presented in 2017 at the Vieille Charité de Marseille. It was realized by the Museum of African, Oceanic and Native American Arts (MAAOA), in coproduction with the Compagnie des Indes.
