The contemporary scene
Lovers of contemporary music won't believe their ears when they learn of the innumerable concerts organized in Bordeaux throghout the year.
The Rock School of Barbey, the Krakotoa at Mérignac and the Rocher de Palmer at Cenon are the best known venues in the urban area, all within easy distance of a tram, but there are lots of other places where musicians come to play, including some international stars.
On the theatre front, apart from the Théâtre national de Bordeaux Aquitaine (TnBA), smaller structures also put on shows of excellent quality, not to mention the many halls in the urban area, each with its own original vision of contemporary creation.
Bordeaux also hums and throbs to the rhythm of festivals throughout the year, ranging from the Chahuts art of speech festival to Novart, a major multi-discipline event, jazz at the Base Sous-Marine, outdoor cinema with Cinésites, the graphic arts with Regard 9, and the great eclectic hotchpotch of the Grandes Traversées organized around contemporary arts.
To help you through this vast offer, make a stop at the Culture kiosk in the Allées Tourny, not far from the Grand Théâtre, which will provide you with all the information you need and a selection of last-minute tickets at reduced prices.
