In 1761, a ship leaving from Bayonne was wrecked off the shore of Madagascar, leaving 80 slaves to fend for themselves on a desert island with a promise that help would soon arrive.
Alas, none did until fifteen years later, by which time only a few survivors remained. What happened to them?
The Musée d’Aquitaine takes a look at this incredible history based on research by archaeologists Max Guérout and Thomas Romon.
