The fifth main region is the Entre-Deux-Mers, the "Bordelais Tuscany". And the 6th?  The city of Bordeaux, the gateway to the wine country, constitutes a sort of wine road in and of itself, and is an excellent base from which to visit all other parts of the wine country...

Bordeaux Wine Country by boat, bus, bike ...

In season, the Tourist Office offers some 60 excursions, tasting workshops, wine-themed evenings, and wine cruises. Booking can be done either on-line or directly at the Tourist Office.

People in a hurry will appreciate the ½ day discovery package with a visit to 2 châteaux (from 34€ to 87€), while the methodical may wish to start their initiation with an introductory Bordeaux wine class (2 hours, starting from 25€) or a visit to the Chartrons district, the historic heart of the wine trade.  Epicureans will enjoy tours such as "A gourmet day in Margaux" or "Wine, food, and the Graves great growths" (99 and 90€), while history buffs will delight in the "Bordeaux & Saint-Emilion grands crus UNESCO" tour. "Wine trotters" will appreciate the "Best of Tour" that takes them from the Entre-Deux-Mers to Saint-Emilion, by way of Fronsac, or the "Sauternes, Saint-Emilion & Pomerol" tour (145€), that provides a very concentrated one-day Bordeaux experience. Lovers of Bordeaux great growths will be delighted with the "Médoc 1855" and "Great growths of Margaux" circuits, whereas people who enjoy sailing  will prefer to take a cruise (from 38 to 145€) past vineyards on the estuary (Médoc, Blaye, etc.). The Tourist Office also offers a "Right Bank Organic Wines" tour and the athletically-minded can enjoy the "Saint-Emilion by bike" tour.

Some visitors may even want to discover the nearby Cognac region!

Prices depend on the theme, the duration of the tour, and the type of transport (minivan for 8 people or coaches with a capacity of 25 or 53 passengers).

Please feel free to discover Bordeaux without moderation!

The Bordeaux wine country

The Bordeaux vineyards are so vast (112,000 hectares) that there is not one, but 6 wine roads! The Médoc, with its famous châteaux, is located northeast of the city, whereas the Graves (the birthplace of Bordeaux wine) and Sauternes regions are to the southeast. The beautiful medieval town of Saint-Emilion is situated to the north and east of Bordeaux and, further west, the towns of Blaye and Bourg, linked by a corniche, overlook the estuary.
